Testimonials

'Mark has delivered a leadership development programme over a six month period to senior managers within the Day Lewis Pharmacy group. His passion and energy for people development has been present throughout and there has been a demonstrable growth in leadership behaviours both individually and as team members. Mark has received some great feedback, his flexibility, caring manner and personal experience have been the key drivers of success of this programme.'

Tim Rendell, Head of Pharmacy, Day Lewis PLC

“I have no hesitation in recommending Mark as we have worked together very successfully over many years. Mark is skilled when it comes to helping people achieve their true potential. He has a wealth of experience when it comes to facilitating change and is an excellent personal coach. Mark is flexible and adaptable in his approach and tenacious when it comes to delivery. Mark has successfully designed, planned and led many pieces of organisational change within the business. This strength, combined with the ability to support any personal change required, makes Mark hugely effective in a modern business context.

Mark is an effective builder of networks at all levels within an organisation and contacts made quickly become trusted relationships that stand the test of time. Mark has led many projects and priorities over the years but I would pick out his ability to develop people and develop high performing teams as a key strength”

Stewart Ford, Head of Hearing Care UK

For me, our day with Mark and Wendy ticked all of these boxes and System Four helped us to achieve the outcomes that I had identified during those early planning stages of the process. I felt that Mark and Wendy took the time not only to incorporate my hopes for the day into the delivery and choice of methods within System Four but at times it also had a bespoke feel to it, albeit within the overall framework of System Four.

The great thing about System Four is the emphasis on ‘drilling down’ through the day to get to the real issues and priorities. The other positive about System Four is that the process seeks consensus, the group working together to identify commonalities and issues that are (or should be) important to us all. It was this part of the process that helped us to agree on our key strategic priorities.

I would recommend System Four and of course Mark and Wendy as facilitators for any organisation across all sectors who either want to collectively resolve an issue in a safe and collaborative environment or work towards identifying the real strategic priorities when everything seems important.

Jenny Paterson, Director, National Autistic Society Scotland

“Mark is a great leader with a unique combination of skills and experience that set him apart from others. His combination of professionalism, warmth and tenacity means that he has a strong track record of delivery ,by working with, and through others. He is someone that engenders immediate trust and who creates a feeling of ‘inner belief’ in people and functions wherever he goes. He is a leader that people willingly follow.

His skill at identifying and delivering innovative cost, sales and service initiatives, at a strategic level, means that he has the ability to add value to many aspects of a business, in the £ multimillion bracket, working across the most senior levels of the organisation

Mark is one of these leaders whose unique combination of leadership, business acumen and people skills make him great to work with.”

Deirdre Burns, Retail Director at EE

“Following the merger of Alliance Pharmacy and Boots the Chemist to form the Group - Alliance Boots. Boots UK embarked upon a major re-branding exercise throughout the UK . Over 1000 Local Pharmacy retail stores were to be re-branded from Alliance Pharmacy to Boots and this also involved divesting and re-locating a number of stores. Mark led this programme throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland working with the project team and the Regional Managers to ensure the whole effort was implemented effectively both physically and culturally. It was particularly sensitive in Northern Ireland as the product range was different and the stores had been recently re-branded from Bairds to Alliance Pharmacy only 15 months earlier.
In addition to this 5 of Flagship stores required major refurbishment and extending. Belfast, St Enochs, Buchanan Galleries and Sauchiehall St. in Glasgow together with the Gyle store in Edinburgh and Mark ensured that all this was completed on time and within budget and also with the minimum disruption to team members and customers.

Mark's influence and stakeholder management was first class ,working with internal and external contacts. Mark also ensured the "Business case" plans were robust to exceed the required internal rate of return and pass through the rigorous scrutiny of the Boots UK Board to ensure funding. Mark developed a brilliant Property plan for the Division, which identified new store opportunities throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland and eventually became the nucleus for effective Conurbation planning.
Mark also chaired and formed the Risk Governance Committee in Scotland and Northern Ireland. A format that was adopted throughout the organisation.

He is the driving force behind the CSR activity raising many thousands of pounds towards charities.

Mark is a great leader, communicator, coach and mentor. Someone that every team needs on their side.”

John Whigham, Managing Director at Funeral Services Partnership

I have known Mark for around 20 years and been privileged to have been a close colleague for half of that time. Mark’s drive, enthusiasm, determination and work ethic were inspirational to me and his people skills, notably engagement and coaching of others, are at a leading level in my industry. He consistently demonstrates his considerable theoretical knowledge with a genuine desire to understand and help others, and this potent mix along with his engaging personality made him first point of contact for any of my colleagues needing guidance or advice.

Mark’s deep rooted people skills allowed him to get the very best from his direct reports and peers and allowed him to be successful in a variety of different roles during our time working alongside each other.

His natural infectious personality and leadership skills have also been used to lead teams in outdoor pursuits and adventures often in the interests of charities and good causes.
